Simple wedding planner download

:Opening Segment Thought it was a funny opening segment. Randy & AJ bounce off eachover really gr8. It was short and straight to the point too which is good. Drew is also gr8 at working the audience. :Randy Orton vs AJ Styles vs Drew Mcintyre Match was really fun and had some nice spots. Drew won which i'm over the moon about but i would have prefered him to win with his own move. :Seth & AOP backstage segment Pretty standard. I'm lovin Seth right now but i'd prefer if he wore a suit instead of his leather jacket maybe the suit he used to wear as a heel. :Ricochet vs Mojo Rawley Match was to get Ricochet over which is fine. Going by the commentary the really are trying to get Ricochet over with the kids with all the video game and superhero referances. :Street Profits backstage plugathon Profits of course were fantastic in this but i'd prefer them to actually put them in a fued. :Charlotte Flair vs Sarah Logan This fued i guess is just something to have Charlotte do until the Rumble ends. The problem is these kind of matches get no one over. I really dont understand if Charlotte is face or heel because she's acting like a bitch but the announcers are putting her over as a face. :Brock Lesnar and R-Truth promo segment Heyman was on fire during this and the crowd was awesome. Heyman put over his spoiler streak which means his spoilers are wrong for the Rumble. Truth was funny because hes R-Truth and hes awesome. This segment made me laugh the most so far in 2020 this was all superb. :Bobby Lashley W/Lana vs Rusev For me match wise this has been booked backwards wouldnt you have a normal match then a Hardcore stipulationed match IMO this match would have been alot better if it was a street fight as theese two as wrestlers rely on smoke and mirrors most the time. The match was very slow but there was no real botches in it. Liv came out and has a cringe filled altercation with Lana it really is a shame that Liv got dragged into this. No1 gained anything from this Lashley didnt because he already won previous and Rusev didnt becuase he already lost previous. One of the worst segments of the show. :Bobby Lashley & Lana interview Lanas a good promo but even she cant make this work. This was too set up a mixed tag next week which i'm so defintley excited for. :The Viking Raiders vs The Singh Brothers This happend. :Rusev & Liv Interview Rusev said "if you come on my face i will fight you" which for me is the only redeeming thing out of this whole fued. Liv is again a good promo but even Rock couldnt make this shit work. :Becky Lynch vs Asuka contract signing I love Kairis unbrella its one of my favourite things in wrestling. The story of the Kabukis just trying to annoy Becky makes gr8 televison. Asuka speaking Japanese makes her sound really bad ass. Beckys selling off the mist was really good. This segment was really good. Beckys promo after was really really good. :Andrade & Zelina Vega + Rey Mysterio interview Theese interviews were both really good. There obviously trying to attract more Lation fans and theres defintley a market out there for them. Also Rey vs Andrade in a ladder match sounds sexy. :Aleister Black vs Buddy Murphy The Video Package before this made them look already like stars really good stuff. The crowd unfortunatley didnt care as much as I they were dead for this at the start and the reason for that is theese are two up and coming wrestlers in a fued with eachover so really no one is getting over. This match was of course fantastic because its this match and the crowd started to get into it because theese two are fantastic workers. It takes quite something for me to get jump of the couch and this match was one of those things for me potential TV Match of the year. The one slight dig with it is that the first black mass should have been the finish the story was right there Murphy again caved into his weakness of being cocky and it cost him against Black again but thats only a minor dig. :Erick Rowan vs Jabroni I liked how Murphy was still suffering from his loss during this match and that was the only redeeming factor out of this. Rowans pet bit him which advances this story i guess. :The Big Show, Kevin Owens & Samoa Joe vs Seth Rollins & The AOP Fist Fight Match The action started quick which was a exciting surprise. All of the spots were placed out nicely KO's spot especially i loved. This match had Heyman written all over it reminded me of the ECW days. Its a shame this match couldnt go on longer but it was great while it lasted. I'm looking foward to what this stable further entails i'm really excited for the future of Raw. :Show Overall Really enjoyed most of the show. If it wasnt for the Lana/Lashley stuff and a few minor things this would have been higher. 8/10.

Omfg they have to be the most adorable two I've ever seen. I have a wedding shaming story to tell. The wedding itself is bad, sure, but its the backstory thats the real crazy shit. Id like to share this story somewhere. Two engagements, one wedding, all the same man, within the span of a year and half. This is A LOT so read at your own risk. I also feel the need to say that during the beginning of this story, I myself was engaged. I had s ring and was planning my own wedding. Names and some details are changed to protect identities. Obviously any quotes are paraphrase. This is the story of Poor Rodrick Spring 2018: The Lie I used to work at a retail superstore. Late in the spring we got a new-hire, Poor Rodrick. (A nickname bequeathed unto him by my sister-in-law when I first started telling her the tales of this guy) Poor Rodrick and I worked in the same department. -What we learned about Poor Rodrick: Age: 19 -Personality: generally nice, nerdy & tech-oriented -Flaws: More than a little immature, tended to act like a know-it-all and CONSTANTLY referred to himself as a “playboy” and “flirt. ” - Related fact: Once told me he had “over 100 girlfriends during high school” - Romantic Status: Engaged The first thing Poor Rodrick ever told us about himself was that he had a fiancé. They had been High School sweethearts (after all those OTHER girls I guess. and were VERY in love. Theyd been engaged for a while (I dont remember how long) and were living together in her parents basement. He talked about her often, and always spoke highly of her. Nobody suspected any foul play. Then one Monday, about a month after he started, he seemed quieter than usual. My co-workers and I had started up the usual Monday conversations, asking people how their weekends were, what they did, blah blah blah. Poor Rodrick, who typically liked to discuss the latest movies he would see, or brag about the updates to his custom-built PC, was not talking at all, unusually focused on the file-work for our department. Poor Rodrick! ” I said, “How was your weekend? ” He stopped, looked up and gave all of us this weirdly guilty stare. Poor Rodrick: “Not great. my fiancé and I got into a fight. ” Me: “Oh no! That sucks! Are you two ok? ” Poor Rodrick: “Yeah, were fine, shes still pissed at me though. I asked him what happened, if he didnt mind sharing. And he said, “No, I should tell you all anyways. Its about the store. ” And we were all like. and then he told us. So, like most businesses created within this century, our retail store hired both men AND women. This shocking fact turned out to be quite the problem for Poor Rodrick. Poor Rodrick explained that ever since starting his new job he would often come home to his fiancé and talk about his work day. He would talk about what he did, what he was learning. and about his co-ed workplace associates. Well, anytime any name was brought up of the “not-male” persuasion the conversation would take a turn for the worse. Suddenly he was being grilled on who she was, what they did together and what did he think of her? But, always quick on his feet, Poor Rodrick had the solution! In order to protect his poor fiancés feelings and “not make her jealous, ” as he put it, he would confidently tell her not to worry, that this random woman co-worker meant absolutely nothing to him because: They werent pretty. Not that he didnt THINK they were pretty, or that he was dedicated and faithful to his fiancé, or literally any other RATIONAL excuse, no, this man had told his fiancé that EVERY female coworker that hed ever mentioned through casual conversation was, in fact, just super ugly. And somehow this had worked. Every. Time. But then, that weekend, she had come shopping. Poor Rodricks fiancé had innocently come to our store to get some groceries and the second she began to take notice of the staff, Poor Rodricks clever ruse fell to pieces. She was shocked and horrified when instead of seeing the store full of the hideous ogresses she has been promised, she was instead confronted mpletely normal looking women! Poor Rodrick was promptly chewed out for hours. Side note, I had actually witnessed this myself, though at the time I didnt know what exactly I was seeing. That Saturday I had noticed a customer standing with her cart in a far corner of our craft department, staring daggers at me and any other female wearing our work vest. I briefly thought that maybe she needed assistance, but after looking at the ferocity in her eyes I had quickly decided that I could not give her the help she needed. It was only later that I connected my experience with Poor Rodicks story. Anybody who worked with Poor Rodrick on a somewhat regular basis, myself included, were suddenly a little more concerned about the nature of his relationship. But nobody said anything, apart from one or two prodding questions like, “Shes kind of the jealous type, huh? ” or “Do your cover stories ALWAYS end that well? ” Almost said as jokes, but Poor Rodrick defended his womans honor to no end. “Shes not normally like that. ” “Shes the one who really gets me though, ” “I know I sometimes make her jealous because of how I am. ” Sometimes it felt like he was trying to convince himself more so than the rest of us. But he brought her up much less in casual conversation. Summer 2018: The New Cashier About 2 months later Poor Rodrick came to us with great news! His fiancé was looking for a new job! And she had just applied as a cashier! At OUR store! There was no doubt she would get hired. Our store had an infamously high turn-over rate. We all acted excited for his sake. She, well call her Cadence, got hired within the week. On Cadences very first day I ran into her. I immediately recognized her as the crazed woman from the craft aisle. I had decided almost immediately after Poor Rodricks announcement that if given the chance I would to properly introduce myself. I hoped that if I put in extra effort to be nice and get to know her, given her jealous tendencies, maybe she wouldnt register me as a threat. But I was being too hopeful. “Hi! My name is OP, youre Cadence, Poor Rodricks fiancé, right? ” She proceeded to look me up and down with the most vicious side-eye and said “Oh, youre one of the ones he talks about. ” I got out of there pretty fast. Threw something like a “nice to meet you see you around, ” and went back to work. I later learned that she gave a bunch of the other female coworkers that tried to talk to her similar greetings. What we learned about Cadence: Age: 22 Personality: Ha, just kidding she was terrible Flaws: Childish, jealous, very whiny, self absorbed and absolutely domineering over Poor Rodricks every move Related Fact: Also referred to Poor Rodrick as a “playboy” and would constantly complain about how she “had to keep an eye on him” otherwise hed “go wild. ” Cadences presence in the store got on everyones nerves, especially the members of my department. Over the time of her stay, Cadence slowly demanded more and more of Poor Rodricks time. Both on and off the clock. It started with breaks. Being a cashier, Cadences break schedule ran differently than that of our department, not to mention she and Poor Rodrick had radically different shifts. Regardless of this fact, Cadence insisted she and Poor Rodrick take their breaks “together. ” So, twice a day at the start of her break Cadence would sweep into our department like a hysterical whirlwind, screaming, “Wheres Rodrick? I texted him and told him were going on OUR break! Why didnt he text me back? Were going NOW! ” She would roll down our aisles, searching for her target, and the second she found him, Poor Rodrick was pulled away from us, sucked to her side at a dingy table in the back room. It didnt matter how busy we were, what project we were working on, or how annoyed our Department Manager was that Cadence was messing up our schedule, every time Cadence called for him, Poor Rodrick would simply give a defeated shrug and walk away. After that, it was their lunch breaks. As previously mentioned, Poor Rodrick and Cadences shifts usually started at different times, usually 3-4 hours apart. While Cadence could easily get away with stealing Poor Rodrick for her 15 minute breaks, it took much more effort to take him for an entire hour. Lunch breaks were usually are taken anywhere between 3 or 5 hours into someones shift, so the only way Cadence could force her and Poor Rodrick to be together was to convince managers to let one of them take their lunch either very, very, early or extremely late. It didnt really work out, though sometimes she could get little 10-20 minute overlaps. Poor Rodrick never outwardly complained when his lunch times were messed with, but would sheepishly ask whoever he was on shift with to take his lunch at weird times. During all of this I had only seen so much of Cadence. Other than brief moments in the back room or the few minutes of her daily visits to collect Poor Rodrick, I saw very little of her. I never saw how she acted while working, or what went on during those forced break times together. That changed about halfway through the Summer. Summer 2018 Part 2: Observations Halfway through the Summer Poor Rodrick and Cadence moved out of Cadences parents basement and got an apartment together. Before the move the two of them had come to work separately. They had one car between them, and I think whichever one was scheduled later would either get an Uber or get a ride from Cadences parents. After they got an apartment, however, suddenly they were paying rent. Money was too tight for Ubers, and I guess the free rides stopped. Cadence and Poor Rodrick started driving to work together. Poor Rodrick would start his shift and Cadence would wait it out in the break room until hers started. All this to say that my own lunch break began directly after Poor Rodrick clocked in, meaning that I suddenly had my whole lunch hour to observe Cadences behaviors away from Poor Rodrick. Occasionally I would sit down at her same table and attempt to chat, still trying to be nice in spite of everything. Her behaviors included: Constantly buying herself things from our store. She would open them up and show them off in the break room. She would then complain that Poor Rodrick was “so picky” about their finances -Listing the sins Poor Rodrick had committed the day before, always blaming her bad mood on whatever he had done -Once pulled out her and Poor Rodricks shared cooler that they brought to work and complained that he forgot to pack HER lunch -Once pulled out a laptop and complained that “Rodrick didnt charge it last night! ” I guess she was going to play games on it while she waited for her shift. -During conversations with me (and other female coworkers I later found out) she would say sketchy and suggestive things regarding our relationships with Poor Rodrick. Some of the things she said include: “It must be so nice for you, working with Rodrick all the time. ” “Wow, you like. Rodrick likes. too. We have nothing in common, unlike you two APPARENTLY. You must have so much to talk about! ” Side-note: This got on my nerves more than it probably should have. I would sometimes go out of my way to talk about my own fiancé and wedding planning, not to be mean or annoying, but to try to send as clear a message as possible, that message being: “I AM NOT TRYING TO STEAL YOUR MAN. ” Not usually an overly-affectionate texter, I started sending my husband-to-be lots of hearts and lovey-dovey gifs. “How many hearts should I send him this morning? 5 or 12. ” I would say to her when she got particularly pushy, “Gee I cant WAIT to MARRY him in the fall! ” These outbursts only did so much to shut her up, and my fiancé noticed and asked about the weird out-of-character texts. He thought it was pretty funny and definitely didnt mind the extra affection. -She LOVED those “Episode” apps on her phone, the ones that play out ridiculous and contrived drama stories. She was obsessed with the romance stories. The ones with cheating boyfriends/girlfriends or pregnant twins or whatever. She played these excessively -At some point, Poor Rodrick expressed an interest in health and losing weight. He changed up his diet, started working out at home, etc. and she was FURIOUS. She would constantly complain about his new eating habits, saying that he was “starving himself. ” (He told me he was trying portion control) She started buying unhealthy food from the store and would leave it in their shared cooler, hoping to tempt him into snacking, and then when that didnt work would just straight up shove food in his face, trying to get him to eat. Finally, Cadences schedule battle came to a head. She hated waiting for hours for her shift, and was tired of arguing over lunches. She told me one day that she had written in to HR to change her and Rodricks availability (or the hours they are available to be scheduled. She and Poor Rodrick would now be working the exact same shifts every day. And thats when things really went off the rails. Ill try not to go into too many details, but as far as the scheduling was concerned, everyone gave up. Poor Rodricks change of availability messed with our departments coverage. Cadence complained that her managers were trying to use her change in availability to give her less hours. During this time our store was going through a major change in management and we were losing lots of workers en masse. We all got taken out of our department to cover others. My lunches now, somehow, were overlapping with Poor Rodrick and Cadences, leaving basically no coverage for our department. It was definitely bizarre, seeing how Cadence acted when she was with Poor Rodrick. While away from Poor Rodrick, she would almost never shut up about him. But when they were together, she seemed to completely ignore him, or would just straight up insult him and act like whatever she said was funny. I assure you, it was not. I was invited by Poor Rodrick to eat lunch at their table, him and I were more or less friends. We chatted about movies, tv shows, typical nerd stuff. It was whatever, but Cadence made everything painful. She would be on her phone playing those drama apps while I ate lunch and Poor Rodrick and I talked. Poor Rodrick tried every now and again to bring Cadence into the conversation with a “What do you think honey? ” or “We just talked about that the other day, didnt we? ” This went over like a bucket of cold water. She would either not respond at all, or say something like, “You know I dont anything about that. ” And go right back to her phone. The look of defeat and embarrassment on Poor Rodricks face was nearly unbearable. The only other noteworthy event during this time was how Cadence liked to get attention from Poor Rodrick. See, while she was happy to ignore him and play her games, if she felt that HE wasnt paying attention to HER, she would become very upset. She was like a ticking time bomb, her fuse lit and burning down. She would glance over at him as he ate his lunch, watched videos on his phone or talking to other co-workers. Suddenly, she would explode at the table. Her whole body moved to cover his face with whatever game was on her phone. Cadence: “OoOoHHH! RoDrIcK! WhO ShOuLd wE KisS. ChAd or KeViN. ” Poor Rodrick: “Uuhhh, I dont know. Chad. ” Cadence: “UUUGHHHH. BuT RoDrIcK. wERe in LOoOoOovvvveee with KeViN. ” Fall 2018: The Breakup And then, IT HAPPENED. One night while I was mindlessly scrolling through Facebook I saw a post from Poor Rodrick. It read: “Dear close friends and family, I thank all of you for the support youve given Cadence and I over the years, but I have a sad announcement to make. Cadence and I are calling off our engagement. We have grown apart and we realize we can should no longer be together. We apologize for the negative impact this might have on any of you, but we hope we can all continue to love each other through this time and remain amiable in the future. Thank you. ” I felt a HUGE sense of relief for this man. I clicked into the comment section to see what people were saying. Most of the comments were people I didnt know (friends and family I assumed) wishing them well, saying they were sorry, etc. And Poor Rodrick was responding back, saying thank you, sending love, etc. etc. But then Cadence showed up. She COMMENTED ON THIS POST: “Haha, dont worry everyone, Rodrick is just mad right now. Well be back together, youll see; ” Poor Rodrick posted back. “No, this is real. The decision is final. You need to accept this. ” Cadence posted AGAIN: “No, weve done this before. Everything is fine, well get back together like we always do. ” My jaw dropped, I was watching this unfold, live, Cadence insisting that “Rodrick is being dramatic, ” “Rodrick will change his mind tomorrow. ” On and on. And then other people started chiming in. They posted, telling Cadence off. They said that she was a child. They told her that they knew she would be like this. That she needed to accept that Poor Rodrick was breaking up with her and get over it. She didnt last very long. I think she rage quit once she got dog-piled. It was glorious. The next day at work Poor Rodrick looked exhausted. I hesitantly breached the subject. Poor Rodrick told me that the night before he and Cadence had a huge fight, more serious than their typical arguments. During this fight, he finally snapped and broke things off. Apparently hed been losing feelings for a long time, but had been too afraid to go through with it, sticking around for various reasons. They had broken up in the past, but it had never stuck. This time he was going to make sure it was for good. As far as a Cadence was concerned, she was still convinced that they were together. In fact, she refused to believe that they were really broken up for about a month. In the immediate aftermath of the Facebook announcement Poor Rodrick did his best to cut as many strings attaching himself to Cadence as possible. He stopped going on breaks with her, he stopped taking his lunches with her and he changed his availability back to what it was. He split his finances from her and set money aside to pay for Ubers to get separate rides to work. Despite all this, Cadence still wouldnt accept that he was gone. She still came back to our department almost every day asking for him, not for breaks like before, but just because she “needed to talk to him. ” Poor Rodrick, of course, did not want to see her, and frankly, neither did anyone else in our department. Commence Operation: “Anne Frank. ” We hid him under counters, we hid him behind aisles, we smuggled him to the back behind heavy palettes of strategically stacked boxes. Anytime she came knocking, Poor Rodrick was conveniently missing. It was one of the only (and best) team building exercises wed ever done. Unfortunately, there was only so much we could do to help our friend. If you remember, the two of them had been living together now for about two months. They had both signed a year long lease and neither had to cash to buy their way out of it. They were stuck together. So no matter how many ways Poor Rodrick tried to avoid Cadence, at the end of the day, she would be waiting for him at the apartment. Spring 2019: The Abuse Victim The winter was rather uneventful, or if there was something major, I missed it. I mentally checked out a little, per newlywed life. The only thing that you need to know is that eventually, Cadence did accept that she had been dumped. She stopped by our department less and less, until one day she stopped bothering us all together. After the long, miserable season in an apartment colder and more bitter than the subzero temperatures outside, the new year came around, and with it a Poor Rodrick with a new lease on life. It had been decided: Cadences parents had given her the money to break the lease early! Poor Rodrick would be keeping the apartment, and she would soon be gone! But actually not too soon, it was still going to be a couple of weeks. Now with the finish line in sight, all Poor Rodrick had to do was wait it out and avoid any parting drama from Cadence. That is not what happened. Poor Rodrick made a fatal error during the final weeks of his time with Cadence: He started celebrating a little too early. Poor Rodrick told us one day that after all his heartache and pain with Cadence, and after months of self-reflection and soul searching, that he finally felt ready to put himself back out on the dating market! Hed downloaded a dating app and started swiping. This move, while a good sign that he was starting to heal and move on with his life, had the unintentional side effect of re-awakening Cadences bitchy wrath. Not only did she start going out of her way to bother Poor Rodrick at work and at home again in a way she hadnt since their break up, but suddenly she was now dating again as well and would loudly talk about the men she was chatting with online. All of this lead to Poor Rodrick and Cadence having more frequent arguments than they ever did while together. Until one day, it all came to a head. I was in the back at my locker when Cadence came into work. Cadence: “HE BIT ME. ” Me: “Excuse me? ” Cadence:“Rodrick BIT ME last night! Look! ” She pulled up a sleeve and showed me her arm. Sure enough, she had a bite mark on her forearm. It was right below her wrist and curled around from behind the back of her hand to under her palm. It was distinct, red and puffy. I was speechless for a second, processing what I was seeing. Me: “What happened? ” Cadence: “RODRICK BIT ME! ” Now I feel the need to add that Cadence wasnt saying this with any mortified, concerned or scared tone. In fact, she sounded downright excited. She was smiling, like shed one the freaking lottery, waving her arm around in front me, like it was a prize or something. I was majorly creeped out that she didnt seem to be taking this seriously. Me: “Okay. WHY did he bite you? What happened? ” Cadence, very flippantly: “Oh, well probably because I was on his back. ” Me: “ Why were you on his back? ” Cadence: Because he took my phone. ” Me: “Why did he take your phone, Cadence? Cadence: “I dont know, he just takes stuff away from me sometimes! Its annoying! He wouldnt give it back! ” Me: “So. he took your phone, and you tackled him. By jumping on his back. ” Cadence: “Yeah. And then he bit me! ” I I was beyond horrified and had about a dozen questions reeling around my brain. He took her phone and she tackled him? And he bit her? Was their go-to solutions for minor problems theft and physical assault. No, it was more like toddler problem-solving logic, but was this normal for them? And she was waving around her injury at work so blatantly and. happily. I made sure to ask her if the bite had broken her skin, if she had bled at all, and she said no. That was good, other than just waiting for it to heal naturally, there was nothing to be done about the mark. At this point, I did something very dangerous: I gave Cadence some advice. I told her that: She and Poor Rodrick had been living as roommates for some time now. They were no longer together or engaged, and their property had long been separated (Which she agreed with. Poor Rodrick, therefore, had no right to anything that classified as her personal belongings. If he took something that was hers and wouldnt give it back, it was theft. Under no circumstances should she ever try to initiate a physical attack on Poor Rodrick for her belongings. He is larger and stronger. She will not win. In fact, she will get hurt. Domestic abuse is not a joke. Theft is not a joke. Assault is not a joke. Her life is not joke. If she feels that her belongings are being kept away from her by force, if she feels that her well being is threatened or she believes anyone who she is living with is dangerous and will hurt her, she should immediately get out and call the police. And then I said goodbye, good luck, and ran like hell. I wanted to get Poor Rodricks side of the story. And I also wanted to warn him that I had just advised his insane Ex to CALL THE COPS on him if something like this happened again. This was serious. Poor Rodrick told me a very similar story about what happened. He had gotten annoyed with her, it was in regards to something she was doing on her phone, he took her phone (bad move, he agreed) she jumped onto his back trying to get her phone from him. Poor Rodrick explained that when Cadence jumped onto his back, she wasnt piggy-backing from his shoulders, she had both hands clasped together and was hanging from his throat. He legitimately couldnt breathe. He was trying to tell her he couldnt breathe, but couldnt get much out because of the immense pressure on his trachea. He honestly thought he was going to pass out, and bit her out of desperation. Thats when she let go. Now, during this whole story, I havent given much in the way of physical description of Poor Rodrick and Cadence, and that has been on purpose. For one, to keep the anonymity, but secondly, Im not here to make fun of anybodys looks, body shame, or any of that racket. But for this part of the story, I find it necessary to give two details: Poor Rodrick was significantly taller than Cadence, meaning that when she was hanging off of him, her feet were nowhere near the floor. Her whole body weight was pulling against his throat and closing off his airway. (Think Westley wrestling Fezzik in The Princess Bride) Cadence, while short, was not small. When Poor Rodrick said that she was hanging off his throat, and he couldnt breathe and couldnt lift her off, I 100% believed him. I gleaned a little more information from Poor Rodrick about his home-life up until that point. Turns out, physical violence wasnt that uncommon. He said that she was the one hitting/tackling/ wrestling him. He was so much larger and stronger than her, after all, that he could and should just take it. I thought that given the story I just heard, they were both acting like children, needed help, and should stay as far away from each other as possible. I warned him about what I told Cadence, and that he better watch his ass for a variety of reasons, not the least which being, what did he think was going to happen if the cops got called on a domestic abuse case and they showed up to a woman with a highly visible injury on her person? Cadences tone towards Poor Rodrick became very different in the days after our talk. She started cornering anyone who would listen and would go on long rants, now referring to herself as a “Victim of Domestic Violence” She claimed that Poor Rodrick was toxic and that she was a survivor. She bragged at work about how she would spend her time off, not in her apartment where she lived, but in our towns local Abused Womens Shelter. In my opinion, all the more power to her for removing herself from the situation. When I asked Poor Rodrick what he thought about it, he said that he honestly didnt mind, was in full support, in fact. Anytime at home with her not in the apartment was a plus. Cadence spent her last weeks with Poor Rodrick, and then, she was gone. She did keep her job at our store a little while after she moved out, but apparently got serious with one of the guys she had been talking to (dating. online. From what she described, a blind guy who lived in a town about two hours away. She quit her job with us and moved to that town to be with him. Spring 2019 Part 2: The Rebound As a result of Cadence leaving, Poor Rodrick found himself in an all-too common situation for young people- He could barely afford rent anymore. An apartment whose cost was meant to be afforded between two people was now saddled on him alone. And two things happened at the same time: Poor Rodrick said he was looking for a roommate for financial reasons. Poor Rodrick started talking about his dating life again, moving forward from the sort of false-start hed had a few weeks prior. He was now able to set up and go on dates free of Cadences meddling and drama. Now, call me a crazy conspiracy theorist, but I think that both of these factors played into what happened next: Poor Rodrick talks about a girl hes matched with, her name is Daisy. (Maybe like the second or third girl hes openly discussed at work since Cadence left. Theyre setting up their first date! Wow! Their date went so well! They have so much in common! Hes seeing her again soon! Wow, that second date went amazing! Cant believe how great she is! Everyone hes introduced her to says theyre so much alike and such a good couple! Geez, every time he sees her its like this instant connection! Theyve been seeing each other more and more, like every night. He thinks this might be for real, like she might be the one. -Great news! Daisys decided to move in with him! Isnt that great. Daisys all moved in now, and well, Poor Rodrick proposed! She said yes! From start to finish, this ordeal took all of a month, thats including the two or so other dates hed went on to start. I think that was just enough time for Poor Rodrick not to suffer too much of a loss on his rent bills. Now, Poor Rodrick and Cadence had been engaged a while, at least a year, with no wedding planning to speak of. Thats fine, Id just assumed that Poor Rodrick wasnt the type ready for marriage, at least not marriage with Cadence. So I was surprised when soon after, spurred by their love, Poor Rodrick and Daisy sent out wedding invitations. I wont post the YouTube video here (yes, it was a video, not a card) but I will describe it: It was a JibJab. Plain and simple. For those of you who dont know what a jibjab is, just imagine pictures of Poor Rodricks and Daisys faces slapped onto the bodies of dancers in various music videos. The most memorable snippet was Poor Rodricks unmoving face and distant eyes attached to Rick Astleys body, serenading Daisy with “Never Gonna Give You Up. ” Throughout the entire video was a block of text at the bottom advertising the details of the wedding. It would be held on a summer afternoon at a local park. I met Daisy exactly once prior to the wedding. she came shopping at our store for cloth material because she would be making her wedding dress. She seemed genuinely nice. Not much else to say, she was nerdy, quirky, not outwardly malicious or overly strange. To be fair, there have been weddings under stranger circumstances. I said a prayer that, despite the odds, despite the circumstances and all the red flags, that this would genuinely work out, for both their sakes. Summer 2019: The Wedding The day of the wedding came and I had decided to go. About an hour prior to the ceremony, I received a text from Poor Rodrick. There had been a venue change. The park they had originally planned to go to had a big town-funded event happening at it that day. Nobody, not the bride, groom, or anyone involved, had bothered to check this parks availability prior to that day. They had literally found out just then, when theyd shown up to decorate. They would instead be getting married at a different, smaller, park close by. I showed up about 15 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. They had “set up” under the public pavilion. I say “set up” because the decorations consisted of about 6 bundles of balloons taped in the rafters and some plastic table cloths, enough for half of all the tables present. The picnic tables were arranged on either side of the pavilion, lengthwise, creating a aisle between them. I feel the need to point out that when I say the plastic table cloths covered half of the tables present, you might imagine them covering the sides equally, until they ran out. No, literally the left row of picnic tables was completely covered and the right row was completely bare. There was also a table placed at the end of the aisle ( I think it was meant to be a make-shift altar) with presents and a bright, oddly colored bouquet as the centerpiece. Daisy was there, along with some of her family members, having someone take pictures with an iPhone. Despite plenty of seating for the very few people present, there were one or two lawn chairs set up in the aisle anyway. I saw someone I knew from work (lets call her Sarah) in the back corner of the undecorated side of the pavilion. I sat with her and talked until the ceremony began. She was better friends with Poor Rodrick and Daisy then I and had apparently tried to help with planning the wedding. She filled me in on some bizarre details of the event. And from here on out, to keep this part somewhat brief, Im going to bullet point it out: Sarah had asked Daisy literally the day before if she had a bouquet. Daisy said no. Sarah asked if Daisy wanted one. Daisy said yes. Sarah and Daisy had spent a good couple hours the day before throwing together a quick bouquet. Daisy had picked the colors. However, literally minutes before, some of Daisys family members had come with a bundle of freshly-picked flowers from a field for Daisys bouquet. They werent trimmed or tied together or anything. So Daisy was walking around holding a bunch of flowers with a bunch of roots sticking out the bottom and the fake flowers theyd spent the day before putting together were now the centerpiece for the altar instead. Sarah had tried to get Daisy to change into her wedding dress at her house before they came to the park, but Daisy had insisted on changing in the public park bathroom after arriving instead. Sarah had done Daisys hair. Sarah is not a hair stylist. This went about as well as youd expect. Poor Rodrick wasnt there (ceremony was supposed to start in like 10 minutes) because he was picking up pizzas for afterwards. Later, after he did show up, and after he had changed from shorts and a tank top to a suit in the park restroom, Sarah had to convince him to put the tank top back on because his dress shirt was completely see-through and we could all see his chest. Daisys mother was the officiant at the wedding. Daisys mother was wearing all black, head to toe, black sunglasses, and a blue head-scarf. She looked like Yubaba from Spirited Away when she turns into that bird thing, all bundled up, in black, except add sunglasses and a head scarf. Reminding you, it was a hot summer day. Also, for the rest of the story I will refer to her as Yubaba. Poor Rodrick set up a tripod in the corner with a phone on it to record the ceremony. There was a speaker thrown up in the rafters for music. Someone had to remind Poor Rodrick that hed left the rings in his rides car before the ceremony The ceremony started about half an hour late. While everyone was getting ready, all except one of the balloon bundles had come loose and started blowing away. A few had popped on the grass. There was an attempt to re-tape the survivors, but it was windy and this idea was quickly abandoned. The ceremony started with Yubaba walking down the aisle, then Poor Rodrick walking down the aisle, then Daisy walking down the aisle. When Yubaba asked “Who gives this woman away? ” it wasnt to anyone specifically, since Daisy had walked herself down the aisle. This was stated as a legitimate question posed to the audience. We all sat in silence for a good 10 seconds until Daisy pointed to some guy (I assume family) and was all, “Thats you! ” He looked completely baffled. He got up at Yubabas coaxing, “Come stand up here! ” and was instructed to take Daisys outstretched hand and place it in Rodricks hand, about 3 inches away. After which he was told to sit back down. Yubaba read the wrong verses from her bible to start. She started reading the wrong verse, got a full paragraph in, stopped, said, “Oh, thats not right, ” licked her fingers, then very slowly flipped the pages back. She eventually found the right verse, and then started again as if nothing had happened. We all sat in silence and just watched. Yubaba “anointed” Poor Rodrick and Daisy with oil. And by anointed I mean straight dumped a whole bottle of the stuff between their hair, shoulders and the ground. There was no planned ring-bearer. Poor Rodrick chose a nearby 12 year-old family member, whos suit jacket was at least 3 sizes too big for him by the way, poor kid, and just said, “You want to be ring bearer? Here. Stand there. There you go. ” And this kid stood for the duration of the ceremony right next to Poor Rodrick, with one ring in each hand, arms outstretched, palms up, elbows bent, in this weird shrugging position, but almost looking reverent, like the rings were holy. But nobody told him to stop, or let him know he had the option to just hold them, like a normal human being, so he did this until they were taken. At the end they smashed a glass bottle. Poor Rodrick smashed it on the ground with his foot. Yubaba said this was meant to symbolize smashing the old and starting new beginnings, but I thought breaking the glass was a Jewish thing. Idk, correct me if Im wrong I guess. I left the small gift I got gotten them on a table and immediately left after the ceremony. Id seen enough. Epilogue: Id like to say this is the end of this long, ridiculous story. It is definitely is for the wedding shame part of it. But there was an aftermath some might interested in. Poor Rodrick and Daisys marriage lasted two months. They separated a long time ago and as of posting this I dont know if theyve officially completed the divorce process. Poor Rodricks Facebook feed is a complete train wreck. He moves between girlfriends faster than any person Ive ever seen. Im talking some “relationships” that last two days. Hell post lots of photos of him sucking face with some girl, change his profile picture, change his status, post lots of shit about how great she is, and then after a week change his profile picture back to just him and change his status back to single. Wash, rinse, repeat. And nothing gets deleted, so scrolling back through his timeline even two weeks is like visiting a graveyard of past relationships, plus a wedding in there somewhere. Cadence eventually moved towns again and her Facebook claims shes single. I can only assume it didnt work out with whomever she was chasing. Poor Rodrick eventually left the store himself. Im not sure where he is anymore. TL;DR: Teenager with shitty fiancé finally works up nerve to break up with her. Meets, moves in with, and gets engaged to another chick within a month. Has trashy wedding. Gets divorced after two months. Edit: Thank you everyone for your kindness in the comments! I got a silver, thank you kind stranger! This is my first and only reddit post, so Im unsure of a lot of the etiquette around here. Im just glad people liked it, and yeah, like I said, its LONG. But I tried to make it worth the read.

How to Book Your Show: Hold, Challenge, and Confirm When asking a venue promoter about booking a show, the conversation goes like this: Hold A “ Hold ” is a verbal confirmation that the band would like to perform on an available date. The venue promoter will distribute holds on a first-come-first-serve basis. If an agent wants to book a date at a venue to perform, the agent emails the promoter and asks for a hold on an available date. If another Agent for another band wants the date, that agent asks for a “2nd Hold”, or a “3rd Hold”, and so on. This process continues until an artist or agent decides to confirm their Hold or is challenged by someone else for the show. It is not uncommon for a perfect weekend run of 2nd or 3rd holds to be ruined by an early challenger. For this reason, agents often have several holds in different markets or venues to safeguard their existing routing and to make sure the band can hit crucial markets. Sometimes the booking agent will even ask to hold multiple dates at the same venue. This happens when a band knows they want to play in a certain market (lets say, Atlanta) but they are not sure which date will work better for their routing or turnout. When a booking agent is ready to confirm a show, the Agent will confirm/challenge a run ( shows in succession) of holds at once with the promoters. Challenge “Challenge” is the process of forcing the other holds on a date to confirm or back out within 24 or 48 hours of the challenge being issued. For example: A booking agent with a 2nd Hold may Challenge an agent with a 1st hold for a date at a venue if they are ready to commit to a contract. Upon being issued a Challenge, the promoter of the show will give the agent with a 1st hold a 48 hour window of committing to the show or backing out. If you have a 5th hold on the venues and you issue a challenge on the other holds, the promoter emails the other 4 holds and says “Your hold has been challenged, do you want to confirm? ” Confirm A “Confirm” is the verbal agreement that you intend to sign a performance contract and commit to a performance date and deal with a venue promoter. What happens if you back out of a Confirm? Legally & financially, nothing happens. You have not signed a Performance Contract that would obligate the artist and promoter to certain terms if the show doesnt happen. However, I highly advise to never back out of a confirm outside of an Act of God (known legally as a “ force majeure ”. The confirm is only a courtesy in legal terms, but it has a social weight — an obligation that you intend to sign a contract and bring legal and financial consequences to the performance. The music industry is a small world, which means that word travels fast, especially among Promoters. So while you technically have not invoked the cancellation clause of a performance contract, that promoter might hold a grudge against you behind closed doors. A promoter will not go out of their way to bash the reputation of an artist that pulls out of a “confirm”, but as an agent you are putting yourself into a serious disadvantage when trying to perform in that market again. Now, if the show is 4 months away and you pull out of a confirm because of some foreseeable event (wedding, birth of a child, double booking, etc) there is a reasonable amount of time for the promoter to find a new artist that night. But obviously, this is an inconvenience that everyone wants to avoid. Know Your Deals Guarantee This is a Flat Fee that is guaranteed to the artist no matter the venue income ( tickets sold) or expenses ( production, marketing, security) related to the show. Door Deal This is a% of the money made at the door via Ticket Sales. If you have an 80% Door Deal and sell 150 worth of tickets, you will walk out with 120. Versus Deal This is a Guarantee VS Door Deal, whichever one is higher in favor of the artist. This is in situations where the band want a guaranteed amount of money to cover expenses and secure their tour budget, but in the event that the ticket sales are high the band will make more money. Split Point Deal Which is a deal where by the artist has a guarantee, but also has the opportunity to make more money based on venue expenses and ticket revenue. Lets say you are signing a Performance Contract for an 80% Split Point Deal after 500. The first thing to do is to calculate the dollar amount of the Split Point itself. The Split Point. Box Office Revenue. Expenses. Tax. Artist Guarantee) You sell 100 tickets at 10 each, so the Box Office revenue is 1, 000. The venue expenses, including audio engineers, security for your show, marketing expenses and overhead, total 250. The sales tax on tickets sold is 5% or 50. The Split Point. 1, 000. 250. 50. 500. 200 When you reach the Split Point, that is called “ Going into Points ”. Any overage past the Split point is then split per the previously negotiated Percentage. (which in this scenario, is 80. You will be walking home with 160 from going into points plus your guarantee of 500 for a total of 660. The Versus Deal differs from the Split Point because in a Split Point, the Artist gets their guarantee AND some, while in a Versus Deal the Artist gets their guarantee OR some. How to Interact with the Promoter How often do you follow up with a Promoter if they dont respond to your email? “For a cold lead, You can start reaching out to promoters as early as 6 months in advance of the show or hold requested. When sending cold emails, you should email a ton of venues all at once, like throwing darts at a dartboard. Most will be misses, but some will stick. And you can lock those in to build your route. Focus on regional batches. For Example, ask for holds during a 2 week period in Northern California/West Coast, and then the following 2 week period in Southern California/SouthWest. ” “After about a month of tricking emails and correspondence, you can send you follow ups to all the cold leads who did not respond (which will be most of them. Make sure before you follow up that you check the event calendars for these venues. Do your due diligence to make sure that date is publicly available on their end. Once you are in the 2-month time frame, you can begin sending follow ups once a week until a route is locked in. ” “90% of the time, promoters are appreciative that the booking agent is staying on top of the show with weekly follow up. They may have read you initial email, made a mental note of the show, but forgotten to write back. You never know if your emails are going into a spam folder or how busy the promoters are. Most likely, you will receive curt emails like “not available”, “no”, or “OK”, from promoters when trying to book a show. These people are very busy! But or the most part, a promoter will not be annoyed with follow ups about a show, as long as the show is publicly available, because thats how the business works. ” (Erwin Schemankewitz) Keep your emails short and sweet When emailing a promoter or venue, keep your emails short and sweet: Include pertinent information only! Hypothetical email looking to secure a Hold from a Promoter They dont need your bio, or a persuasive argument about why your band should receive priority on the show. Do not send any attachments on the email. Instead, format the body of the email with hyperlinks, such as to the bands website, social media, or a spreadsheet of their history in that market. Lastly, do not inflate you numbers! If you can only draw 50 people, thats fine. There is room for you in the market to grow and promoters understand this. The deal structure will reflect those numbers, of course. But at the end of the day, the market decides. And if you tell the promoter you can bring 200 people and sell 40 tickets… you wont be invited back. Routing Your Tour Google maps is your best friend when routing a tour. Route your shows so that you dont have to drive more than 8 hours at a time, preferably 4 hours (with a 2-hour grace period) if its the same day as a show. Your region will affect this — The NorthEast has markets less than an hour apart, while the SouthEast has market at least 3 or 4 hours apart. The MidWest has even further markets, with some drives hitting 6 or 7 hours. Time zones will also affect your DOS ( Day Of Show) arrival, so keep them in mind when driving East or West. In some cases, the load in times may be absurdly early — For example a 3pm Soundcheck for an 11 pm show, which will affect your routing. Lastly, always assume that there is going to be traffic, so give yourself a generous grace period when driving through any major city. “When sending out holds to promoters, group them together by region as to avoid backtracking. Sometimes its too early to have an idea of your competition, but do your best to avoid markets that would be big competition unless you can leverage your way into that competition. For example, I wouldnt book a show in Atlanta during the weekend of Sweetwaters 420 Festival unless you are able to secure an Official After Party or Pre-Party show. ” (Erwin Schemankewitz) Lets breakdown an example of some Bad Routing This is a real tour route that I saw a musical contemporary of mine post on their social media. Without lambasting anyone, I would like to break down the good and bad qualities of this route. Non-hypothetical Tour Routing - Good vs Bad? First of all, this routing is not all bad. If you were touring in a bus or had a dedicated driver, this route makes a lot of sense. All of these 5+ hour drives can be done at night while the artist is asleep in the bus. But if you are driving a van ( which you definitely are if you are reading this) this cramped route will leave you exhausted by the end.  My biggest complaint is that with only a single day-off sandwiched inside 16 gigs, the feasibility of this route is ambitious. Adding driving times into the mix, and it becomes absurd. If the cities were closer together, or you played multiple nights in the same city, that would be different. But there is little breathing room in this tour to break the monotony of driving, loading in, performing, and loading out ( which can drive you insane after a while. A more reasonable tour schedule would grant the artist 2 days-off for every 5 shows on ( typically on the Sunday & Monday since its hard to book shows on those days anyway. So a 16-show route like this would ideally have 3 or 4 days-off sprinkled in between, or to help connect a long drive.  Other than days-off, this route fails to account for travel delays in a few major areas: Big Cities. 1 hour) Border crossings. 1 hour) and Traffic. These 3 hours drives turn into 4, and the 5 hour drives turn into 7. Even if everything went 100% according to plan, and you are the most timely band in the world, there is so much uncertainty on the road that this routing would make me anxious about arriving at our venues on-time. Not to mention that the long drives would assuredly take a toll on the quality of the performances, night after night.  Build a Tour Budget Before you leave for tour, the TM should make a list of expected income and expenses while on the road. Hypothetical Tour Budget for a 16 Show Tour Dont forget to include a safety net for things like the van breaking down or a medical emergency. When making a tour budget, remember that fewer expenses is better than greater income. Download Gas apps for finding cheap gas, sleep on cots in a friends house instead of buying a hotel ( “Friends who live in X Location” as a Facebook search parameter is a great way to find people that can house you in between shows. Eat as much free food as you can find, and bring a cooler with you for storing leftovers and snacks. Gas Station food is incredibly over priced, so hit a grocery store instead, it will save you and your band hundreds of dollars. If you are a coffee drinker, I recommend taking caffeine pills instead. Try and save money everywhere you can. The Performance Contract The Performance Contract outlines the details, finances and deal structure of your performance. Attached to the Performance Contract are additional specifics on behalf of the artist for the venue that “ ride ” on top of the contract. These are called riders. At the Club level and above, your performance contract will include a Hospitality Rider and Technical Rider. Performance Contract Details The Performance Contract will, most importantly, contractually obligate the venue/promoter to pay the artist some amount of money for a performance. Your Booking Agent will negotiate the performance fee (more on that in a later section) with the Talent Buyer. The Performance Contract also includes details such as: Ticket Price, Name and Address of Venue, Parking for Load In / During the Show, Load In Time, Sound Check Time, Doors Opening Time, Show Time, Set Length, and if there is there a Hall Fee ( A% of the Merch sales paid to the venue. Hospitality Rider The Hospitality Rider includes details about hospitality, such as Accommodations for special hospitality needs, Green Room access and accommodations, hotel/sleeping arrangements ( if any) food/meals provided to the artist such as a Buy Out ( Instead of providing food to the Artist, the venue pays out a flat fee to each member of the tour) if there is a Runner ( A person or persons hired to act as personal shopper or driver for the band and crew) security personnel, access to private bathrooms, shower, or dressing room. the number of Comps ( complimentary tickets) or guest list spots. Technical Rider The technical rider includes details about the artists Stage Plot, Input/Output list, technical specifics for the stage and performance, lighting needs and availability, back line availability, crew members available on site for assisting the band, and accommodations for any special technical needs. The Technical Rider will be spearheaded by the Venues Production Manager and should be thoroughly reviewed by the bands management.  Settlement Settlement is when the Promoter of the show/Venue Owner goes through an itemized list of income and expenses with the Artist and then pays out the remaining balance. Lets break down a settlement sheet together: Hypothetical Settlement Sheet for Band, the Band! This is a hypothetical settlement sheet, re-created using data from an actual performance. This is a 90% of Door Deal, with a 300 Guarantee for the supporting artist. This settlement sheet is broken into 3 sections: Ticket Sales, Expenses, and Split of Total Net.  For this show, tickets were priced at 3 tiers: Advance ( 12) Day of Show ( 15) and VIP ( 50. Note that the Sales Tax ( 8. 9% is taken directly out of the Ticket Sales Gross before any expenses are factored in. Expenses generally include Overhead and Production fees ( included here in Room Rental) as well as marketing, hospitality, and police expenses. In this hypothetical example, the Direct Support has been chosen by the venue. If the Headlining Artist brings their own support, the 300 guarantee would be taken out of the Artists 90% Net instead of listed as a venue expense. For the Total Net, the deal is divided up 90% to the Headliner and 10% to the Promoter. If this show did not sell any tickets, the Promoter would be on the hook for covering all venue expenses, including the Direct Support Guarantee and Room Rental. Luckily for this show, everyone walked away with a little bit of money! Prepare a Stage Plot A Stage Plot is a list of Inputs, Outputs, and Stage directions for the venue production staff. Your stage plot should include your stage placement, instruments, amp type, power needed, microphone placement, and a complete and accurate I/O list ( Input/Output. Check out this link for an example of a Stage Plot, courtesy of the Disc Makers Blog Stay Organized Show Data Your TM or Manager should be up keeping a Google Sheet to reflect your business expenses and incomes on the road. The example below is hypothetical, but the more data you are able to collect, the easier it will be to see your progress and ( hopefully) growth as a band and as a business. Hypothetical Example of Show Data In the Show Data example above, I have collected data from each date on the tour and included information about the venue, the city, the performance fee & type of Deal, the # of Tickets Sold and the ticket price, as well as general notes. When collecting your own Show Data, you could also keep track of things such as: Where you are sleeping that night + Contact Info Expected attendance vs Actual Attendance Notes about the Performance Notes about the Hospitality Merchandise Sales All other Band Expenses Day Of Show Itinerary The Tour manager should make a DOS Itinerary for each show. This is the time to double-check concerns like parking and any last minute hospitality needs. A Day Of Show Itinerary will keep your ship sailing as smoothly as possible and keep everyone on the same page about things like: load-in times & location, parking, doors & soundcheck, set time & length, hospitality such as wi-fi & dinner options, and venue contacts.  Hypothetical Example of a Day Of Show Itinerary Inventory List An Inventory List may also be helpful so that you dont accidentally leave your gear or merchandise at the venue. This is especially helpful at soft-ticket events, like music festivals with quick changeovers and stage hands potentially misplacing your gear. Its no ones fault in particular, and it happens all the time. Drums (Hardware, cymbals) Merchandise Boxes Guitar cases, pedal boards, and amps Cables and accessories Personal belongings The Deal is The Deal You can assume that the venue is lowballing on their first offer, but generally there is very little room for negotiation on a Performance Contract. Especially in the areas of hospitality, the venue will offer what they are capable of up front. In the case of a larger food buyout or a paid-for hotel room, this isnt something that can be leveraged against the promoter. If the venue has a runner, they will be upfront about it. If the venue has a loft for the band to sleep in, they will be upfront about it. For negotiating the Artists Performance Fee, the market will decide. If you can sell 50 tickets vs 500, your payment will accurately reflect that. Some venues have successful weekday show series, like a Monday Funk Night that will generate more revenue than normal. However you should consider Sunday through Tuesday to be off days or bad deals. For example, a door deal at a bar in an unfamiliar market might not even be worth the trip out there, unless it routes you to a better market later in the week. Pay Attention to the Radius Clause A Radius Clause is a time frame or geographic restriction that prevents an artist from playing a competing show. Standard radius Clause is 60 Days and 60 Miles and can be found in the performance Contract. It gives the promoter a form of territorial exclusivity over the performance. If get caught breaking a radius clause, that is legal justification for the promoter to remove you from the show. Radius Clauses are almost always found in contracts for soft-ticket events, so an event where you are not the main attraction such as a music festival. Make sure you or your manager is reviewing every performance contracts just in case. Failing to uphold your Radius Clause looks really bad on the artist and the management. Consider the Underplay It is easy to get caught up in the numbers game. And thats because the most important component of social marketing is non-quantifiable. You cant turn it into numbers. You cant measure it, you can only measure the results. That thing, is HYPE. An Underplay, is a show that is guaranteed to sell-out because the venue capacity is so much smaller than the expected attendance. While this strategy might not work for you financially, a close-to-home and stripped down version of your set can be great for building a community. Pay Attention to Local Support Paying attention to which local band is going to support your headlining bill is a hidden gem that many club level bands completely ignore. You can essentially co-opt the entire fanbase of a well picked local support act. This is not only a good strategy for long-term market growth, but is also a healthy tit-for-tat in the concert industry. You provide an event just out of reach of the local act to do by themselves, and in turn they offer you the chance to impress their audience. If you are a small local band looking to be booked onto a larger show this way, you need to starve your home market and build as much hype as you can. I know that this sounds paradoxical, but its simple Supply and Demand. The goal here is to create as much demand as possible ( creating and distributing high quality content, gathering press) while limiting the opportunity for people to pay to see you play at a venue. Doing this correctly will give you leverage over other bands that the Promoter may be considering. If you are a Touring band, do some research into the scene as to what bands have hype in that city and reach out to them directly. Be prepared to sacrifice some of the financial security of the show in exchange for them pulling a large crowd. You can offer to split a% of the back end or even a% of the door. If you have a band in mind, reach out to the Promoter about what kind of deal can be offered. Leverage Social Media accounts as Digital Credibility Social Media is the first place a promoter will look first to discover information about the band. You should have amazing socials, with high-quality content that lets the promoter know you are a responsible business, and that you have the capacity to promote the show well and make the Promoter some money. A small, organic and engaged audience is more valuable than a large, non-engaging audience. The questions that the Promoter needs answered is: Will this band sell tickets? Show promotion is a risk, and aside from seeing you in concert, social media is the medium for measuring an Artists success. If a promoter can see that you have a devoted, organic, and engaged audience, youre more likely to be placed on the bill. Certainly on your Social Media you should have high quality examples of your music and of your live show. How you choose to build you digital community is up to you, but know that every promoter considering adding you to a show, whether its a soft-ticket festival or a headlining spot at a club, will investigate your social media as digital credibility to your market history. Know the Lingo Hard Ticket: Is an event where the main attraction is a specific artist. People in attendance are only paying to see a specific artist(s. Example: Headlining or Support artist in a club or theater. Soft Ticket: An event where the event itself is the main attraction and ticket seller and the artists are apart of the event. Example: City Music and Arts Festival The Advance: Confirming in advance the details surrounding your show with the venue or promoter. Most of the details about the show will be confirmed when the performance contract is signed, but it is courteous to reach out the venue a few days before your show to confirm any last minute details, such as back line availability, parking, and hospitality. Back line. Musical gear, such as drum hardware, guitar amps, or a bass guitar cabinet, that is provided by the venue for the band. This is common on Festival sets, when there are multiple bands performing with tight changeovers. This is also common when touring internationally, as it is both expensive and very difficult to bring gear with you into other countries. Buy Out. Is when, in lieu of providing a meal to the band, the venue will just pay a flat sum to the band to purchase food. Buy On: Is when a smaller artist pays to be the supporting act for a larger artist Hall Fee. The hall fee is a percentage ( 20–25% of the total merch sales taken by the venue in exchange for allowing merchandise to be sold. Generally, only larger rooms will ask for a Hall Fee, like Theaters or Outdoor Festivals. A Hall Fee may sometimes be negotiated out of a contract in exchange for a smaller Guarantee. Load In/Soundcheck: Load In is the time where the venue will be open and your band is expected to arrive. Soundcheck means the stage is built, all technical processes are ready, and all band and crew members are on site. The reason I bring this up is to pay special attention to your routing. If your band has a 6 hour drive to the venue, its unlikely you will make a 3pm soundcheck. As an audio engineer, I dont mind line-checking a group 30 minutes before doors open. But I do mind showing up to the venue to work and waiting around for 3 hours for the band to show up because they have poor communication skills. Performance Contract. When the show is confirmed, the band will be asked by the promoter to send and sign a performance contract that finalizes details about the show, such as details regarding settlement, set times, load in and load out times, the radius clause, and more. Dont take anything personally Whatever happens, and only as long as you have done your due diligence, problems with routing and getting shows probably has nothing to do with you. The Music Business is a whirlwind of chaos, email threads, lost communication, and alcoholism. Sometimes things that seemed perfect on paper dont work out. Sometimes responsible people make mistakes. Sometimes the show gets double booked, or the headliner gets stuck in traffic. Bands are a business, and business should never be taken personally. You just have to roll with the punches. Hi weddit! I decided to make a throw away for my recap since it has some potentially identifying information. I lurked here during my 19 month engagement and found this community to be really helpful. Hopefully my recap will help someone else. Wedding Location: New Braunfels, Texas Invited: 184 Accepted: 115 Attended: 98 We unfortunately had several no-shows. A few were due to illness, a couple due to a death in the family, and a couple due to induction of labor. Roughly 10 people just didnt show up with no reasoning or heads up. Kind of annoying, but what can you do? I will post pictures as soon as I have them, but I wanted to get this recap out before I forget everything. Our wedding was THE BEST DAY of my life. Nearly everything went exactly according to my plan. The décor came out exactly as I pictured it. Every vendor did amazing, and Im so grateful for that. RSVP site: We decided to do online RSVPs even though our invitations included an RSVP card. We put the link on our website and send direct links out to some people. We only put return stamps on the invitations sent to old people. We probably got 15 RSVPs back in the mail. is great! You can: put groups together so they can RSVP together give guests the option of a named or unnamed plus one so they can fill in the name add variations of names so if someone has a nickname they can still find their RSVP add multiple custom questions export guest data Embed the RSVP directly into your website Set a cut off date so that guests can no longer RSVP Add photos to the background Choose open or closed guest list On top of all that, its FREE! If you want to test it form the guest perspective, follow this link and type in John Doe. Wedding Website I built my own website through. We already had a domain name, so I just redirected our domain to our weebly site. Weebly is just drag and drop, super super easy. If anyone is deciding on which website company to use and is intersted in clicking around our wedding website, let me know and Ill PM you a link. Photosharing App We had guests download The Guest photosharing app prior to the wedding. We also created little advertisements for the app that went on the back of our table numbers. During the reception, we had a projector showing all of the guests photos in real time. We thought this was a great FREE alternative to a photo booth and we ended up with 300 pictures from our guests. To display the photos during your wedding, you just need a projector or TV screen hooked up to a computer. Tip: turn the computer to “never sleep” or it will interrupt your slide show. Budget Breakdown Total Cost: 27, 000 We originally thought wed spend about 20, 000 on our wedding, so we are quite a bit over. However, we charged as much as we possibly could to cards to take advantage of points then paid the cards off immediately. By doing that, we were able to fund a huge portion of our honeymoon (for example- I got first class round trip tickets to Tokyo. Venue: 8, 140 total (7, 578 venue + 565 for overnight stay. 30% of total spent Our venue was Gruene Estate in New Braunfels, TX. The venue came with barnwood tables, chairs, and a ton of décor. The price we paid also included a Day-of Coordinator who took over everything in the final month. We opted to stay at the historic houses on the property the night after our wedding. We werent as stressed about getting everything loaded and out of the venue space since we had the houses overnight. Pictures of this venue do not do justice. Its incredibly beautiful. Theres a pasture with longhorns and horses next to the chapel. They feed the longhorns near the fence before the ceremony so theyre visible in pictures. Theres a huge firepit and a game area with corn hole and washers. I actually signed the contract at the venue without even seeing other venues. Food: 3, 018 total (2, 306 food/tax + 400 gratuity + 312 for chips and salsa bar. 11% of total spent Kreuz Market out of Lockhart Texas was our caterer. Our dinner was brisket, chicken, beans, potato salad, mac & cheese, and a roll. The caterer brought in the tea, ice, lemons, and bbq fixings. They also brought their entire pit out and put it behind the venue so you could smell the bbq cooking. Instead of pre-packing the meats, they sliced it for our guests as they went through the line. Since we had so many no-shows we had quite a bit of food left over. They packaged it all up and placed it in the main house for us to snack on. It was a great late-night treat for us and our friends during our after-party! For cocktail hour we had a chips & salsa bar that had 3 different types of salsa and Texas Caviar. Dessert: 425. 2% of total spent Instead of cake we served pies. On the online RSVP we had guests choose their favorite pie flavors and that determined how much pie we ordered. We ended up ordering 21 pies from Texas Pie Company in San Marcos. The delivered the pies to my caterer the day before then the caterer brought them and set them up. We didnt do a “pie cutting” so the DJ just announced that dessert was ready. Unfortunately, I dont think a lot of people heard the announcement because we were left with a TON of pies. We probably had 12 full, uncut pies and a few that were cut into. We ended up giving several full pies to family and friends that helped load up our vehicles the next day. Bar: 1, 962 total (810 bartending services + 300 gratuity + 852 in alcohol. 8% of total spent The bartending services included 2 bartenders, cups, ice, mixers, and coffee service. They also picked up and delivered the alcohol, then packaged our leftovers for us to take home. We asked that the bartenders not put out a tip jar so that our guests that dont carry cash didnt feel uncomfortable getting a drink. We told them it was ok to accept tips that were offered though. We tipped them 150 each and I know several of our guests tipped them as well. We ended up with waaayyy too much alcohol. This is partly due to having a bunch of no shows, partly due to overestimating how many of our guests would drink, and partly due to the fact that my dad went after the ceremony and bought more alcohol for no reason. We purchased 18 cases of canned beer, 4 handles of Rebecca Creek Whisky, 1 handle of 1835 Rum, 3 handles of Titos Vodka, and 24 bottles of wine (half cabernet/half chardonnay. My in laws also brought in strawberry wine from my husbands hometown. We tried to do a Texas-themed bar but that was ruined when my dad went and bought various bottles of Crown and Captain Morgan because he thought our alcohol wasnt “premium” enough. UGH. I also found out that some people had brought their own beer in (I have no idea why or how that happened. We left with 2 handles of whisky, 2 handles of vodka, and several bottles that my dad brought along with almost all of the wine and about 6 cases of beer. At least we didnt run out, so theres that. I estimate I could have cut about 800 off of this by just having 1 bartender and reducing the amount of alcohol. Our bar still would have run smoothly and we wouldnt have run out of alcohol. Additional Staffing: 727 total (500 for décor staff, 272 for clean up staff. 30% of total spent Our contract stipulated that we were responsible for clean up at the end of the night. Our reception was to end at 11 and the venue had to be clean by midnight. We hired two staff members to clean up trash at the end and move tables back where they needed to go. The day-of coordinator from our venue runs an event company, so we hired them to do all of our decorating. I brought everything in labeled boxes and took photos of mock ups I had done at home. Her team put everything together exactly how I envisioned. Attire & Accessories: 2, 300 total. 9% of total spent Groom: My husband got his suit at Mens Wearhouse. I think he said he spent about 400. He wore shoes he already owned. His boutonniere was from etsy and cost 18. Bride: My dress (Justin Alexander style 1142) was 1, 200 plus 460 for alterations. I purchased this bouquet from Etsy for 175. My shoes cost me just 14 because a friend had given me a 50 gift card to Macys. I bought these adorable hair pins for 28 and did not wear a veil. I also purchased getting ready shirts for my family for 91 and this cute hanger for my dress for 28. Family corsages/boutonnieres are from this vendor and cost 140 total. Floral and Décor. 5% of total spent I decided that hiring a florist was just not something I wanted to do. I talked to a ton of them but I just couldnt bring myself to spend 2-6k on flowers that would be dead the next day! So, I DIYed all of my décor. I am hoping to resell quite a bit of it and make back about 200. I spent 700 on flowers and supplies at Joann Fabric 122 on vases (included 54 bud vases and 12 taller vases) 12 on a sign from Hobby Lobby 50 on a picture frame with a large mat for people to sign as our “guest book” 37 on a card box (it was 74 originally but I split the cost with a friend who recently got married) 30 on picture frames for a memorial table - Hobby Lobby frames are always 50% off [Link. to a couple pics of decor. 25 on a sign for the memorial table 140 on 12 table cloths from Amazon 100 on lace material I turned into lace runners 10 on glue dots to hold stuff down. I printed my own “no photos/unplugged ceremony” sign on ledger paper and cut it to fit into an 11x14 frame. I spent 28 on simple 5x7 paper table numbers from etsy and 15 on our photo app advertisement that I glued to the back of them. My husband cut our table number holders from scrap wood we had and I spent 5 on a small jar of stain to stain them. Hair and Makeup: 1, 980 total for 6 people, including tip and travel fee. 9% of total spent I had given up on having professional hair and makeup for my wedding until I came across Beautymark Agency. I was so bummed that I would have to do it myself after two horrible trials with some highly rated companies (seriously- horrible- just [look at the pics. I decided to give it one more shot, and Im so glad I did. Angie and Courtney did an AMAZING job on my wedding hair and makeup. They really nailed the look I was going for! They were the first ones to actually look at AND discuss what I liked about my inspiration photos. I dont have my wedding photos back yet, but you can clearly see the difference in trial photos. I showed the exact same inspiration photos for all of the trials pictured. My mom, grandma, sister, mother in law, and grandmother in law all got their hair and make-up done too. My grandma commented that “they made an 80 year old woman look 40. ” Ana, the owner, is amazing. She responds quickly to every inquiry. There were times when I sent an email at 9 or 10 at night, thinking she would get back to me in the next day or so. Nope- she often responded to those emails within an hour. She revised my quote several times as things changed and always seemed very happy to do so. I am soooooo happy that I decided to give Beauty Mark a shot. I will definitely be reaching back out to these women for future events/photos. Officiant/Actual marriage stuff: 331 The officiant came recommended by the venue and we loved him! I paid him 250. Our marriage license was 81 DJ/Video/Photo: 4885 total. 18% of total spent We used Toast Entertainment for DJ, Photo, and Video. We got a 250 discount for bundling their services. The company is great! They have some useful online tools for planning. Their team is quick to respond to questions. All of their pricing is online and upfront. DJ: 995- Our DJ was Maximo and he did a great job getting people on the dance floor. Videographer: 1495- This included 8 hours of filming and included drone footage. We will get an 8-10 minute highlight film as well as a 40-50 minute documentary style film. Photographer: 2, 795- This included 8 hours of photography with 2 photographers AND an engagement shoot. I was able to choose my main photographer from their online portfolio, which made me feel like I was truly getting who I wanted for my wedding. My photographer was Aleisha- she was really organized and helped move things along quickly. She also took my insecurities into consideration when photographing us, so I feel my pictures will be flawless. She did our engagement photos, and those came out GREAT. Wedding Insurance: 224 Our venue did not require us to get insurance. However, we got cancellation insurance just in case. Technically, we could have used the insurance because my husbands grandfather passed away 3 days before our wedding. They would have refunded all deposits that we couldnt get back if we had canceled the wedding at that time. Although not necessary, it gave me piece of mind. Security: 260 It was required by the venue that we have an off-duty officer serve as security. Paper Stuff. 1% of total spent Save the date magnets from vistaprint - 62 for 75 All-in-one invitations from Minted - 143 for 75 Dinner menus (slid into napkins) from vistaprint - 50 Photo app advertisements from vistaprint – 40 Placecard template from Etsy (printed at home) – 8. 50 Seating chart template from Etsy - 11 Seating chart printed on foam board from vistaprint – FREE (This was originally 80, but it came in blurry just days before my wedding. They refunded me the cost. Dinnerware: 390. 1% of total spent Plates from Amazon- 170 - I contacted the seller and asked for samples in advance Cups from Amazon - 28 Gold Plasticware from Amazon- 65 Cocktail napkins from Amazon- 37 Dinner napkins from Amazon (these were amazing. 40 Chips & Salsa containers from Webrestaurantstore.

Moments and Opinions Happy Game Moment People's lists of happy game moments generally consisted of the final culminations of a book - either victories or moments with LIs. The Endless Summer endings were also a popular happy game moment, across a bunch of different endings, though primarily the La Huerta ending. When mc and li lived happily in la huerta in endless summer Ahmed talking about his religion, and not drinking. I also don't drink so it was just nice. When Damien tells MC that he doesn't mind them being poly and accepts them as they are and has no desire to change them. Kicking butt as Kenna When my mc was turned in bb2 TF - I forget the exact chapter of it, but talking to Becca in Eskea about why we fell for her. It just gives me good chills every single time. Oh, is a difficult question, cause Choices does a great job with their stories and there's many scenes where I feel really happy or something happened to make me laugh. Since I'm currently replaying Desire & Decorum, though, the first moment that comes to mind is when MC confesses her love to Hamid. He's so happy that he starts speaking different languages, because he can't control himself, and he says that no language in his head conveys how much he loves her. It's very sweet and always makes me smile stupidly. In ACOR, where MC has FINALLY reached her goal of revenge for her fellow Ghaul and was reunited with her family. Her wiles, strength, and determination finally came to a head that day when she had finally ‘killed the man who took her life away from her. That was a great moment, indeed. When Michael asked me to be his bf in HSS (and in HSSCA when we see Maria in the cafeteria try to get my MC to join the homecoming committee and Michael mouths to save me from it behind her, for nostalgia I was grinning from ear to ear) Every scene with the daughter in MOTY. Or finally getting with your LI after a slow burn. Hugging Olivia and she actually manages to be happy, and adopting Tim in TE and he makes that happy little face at you. The Epilogue for It Libes Beneath wherr you just have fun aimlessly with no real goal or plotline. Being able to relax with your friends after the hell you just went through without any motive (like boosting nerve) or plan (like stopping by the arcade while investigating) felt beautiful. Especially after seeing how Tom grew from a posessed side character I beat up in It Lives in The Woods to a badass Hero who could finally enjoy time with friends. Being kidnapped at the end was an amazing ending too, but the calm after the storm was happy. The first time we were allowed to seriously tell Maxwell that we liked him (and kiss him. after he officially became an LI! From the beginning Id always wanted him to be an LI - and I wasnt involved in the fandom at the time so I had no idea that others felt the same or that PB had actually made the change! Probably an odd moment to choose, but when the MC from It Lives Beneath broke out of the coffin and then proceeded to murder Richard. Best thing I've ever read in a Choices book. In MotY, when Thomas and MC had the conversation about being an invisible minority or feeling like you don't live up to the culture. I have never been prouder of Pixelberry for their content. I want to see more from whoever wrote that section. I wont say a moment but id definitely chose the last few chapters of PT, the fact that her friends and LI had her back and went overboard just to get her her fans back just felt so genuinely sweet. It feels great to have someone believing in you and they made me feel that way. Another moment where i was happy was when we finally got engaged to our LI is D&D, i honestly couldnt handle seeing The Duke any longer and felt like i was going to lose it if i had to stay engaged to him longer. MC getting pregnant in the Royal Heir + I like any scene where the "cold bitch" e. g. Madeline and Olivia) gets shocked when MC does something nice for them I screamed at my phone in joy when Ride or Die MC rammed the car in one of the last chapters I was like YES GIRL YES YOU RAM THAT CAR Sad Game Moment Endless Summer endings as well as the end of the Elementalists series were common answers here. ALL THREE ENDINGS OF ES Diabolos the horses death, poor Imogen. ES2 Spoilers - Quinn dying on the bridge in the tree city, knew it was coming because of the totem but the shock of realising it was actually coming true and the fact my LI was dying made me so goddamn sad. Syphax in prison and me still not reciprocating. Turning down Liam's proposal in one gamethrough. Turning Drake down on another xD ROD MC fighting with dad. The discovery that Dames was not really Damien in PM, and we had inadvertently left him behind at the Eros headquarters. Death of professor vasquez from the freshman I sacrificed Noah in my playthrough of It Lives in the Woods, but I felt sad for those who sacrificed their MC. The baby part of Open Heart. I can't play that chapter. I literally click through without looking Ending and no continuation of Platinum, WT, Hero, and ACOR When the little boy vampire (who was a smidge of a dick) died in BB. Also when MCs Dad died in D&D. when Leon got killed by the lighting bitch i think Hayden dealing with the fact they're not human, don't have a past, etc. Being forced to pick a LI in Ride or Die Josephine Vance not getting into afterlife. Actually, it made me more angry than sad. I hated how she was treated by the narrative and I wish we (as Harper Vance/the MC) had the option of hating and not forgiving Arthur Vance instead of automatically loving him and being all "you never did anything wrong ever and I love you. 111" Anytime my daughter is sad in Mother of the Year Guilty Game Moment The most common guilty moment that people listed was rejecting "Liam" in TRR and going with another LI instead. The Noah vs. MC ending of ILITW and Mrs. Martinez in OH were also commonly cited. Also, not adopting the puppy Pebbles in Sunkissed! Rejecting Liam's proposal. I really can't play that chapter at all if I'm not going to accept. Everytime that I can't spend diamonds to help someone, I'm like "Yeah sorry I can't stay to help you cope with your mother's death but hey, I'm broke so see you later" When I hooked up with Ivy When is selected to have a final fling before marriage thinking the fling was with the fiance Hana. Her look of disappointment was heartbreaking Leading Aster on only to choose Shreya. Naming the hawk in TC&TF Tom Sato (gets killed in the first book) Ms Martinez's death. The whole thing was so unprofessional. It made me furious rather than guilty at moments, though. any adoptable animal moment and i have no diamonds None. It's just a game. Why feel guilty at all? HHS:CA unintentionally breaking my previous MC's leg The Noah vs MC decision. I always choose to let Noah make the sacrifice, but it seems so unfair to either of them. whilst romancing Estela during the entirety of Endless Summer I accidentally bought a diamond scene where I slept with Sean. Ironically it was at the New Years party/birthday party so after Sean and i had sex and i left the room in the morning i found Estela and she was sad (because she found her mums room in the hotel but i didnt know that yet and i thought she was upset because i slept with Sean) I felt horrible so I replayed the chapter and bought the diamond scene with her and then i realised shed be sad either way because it wasnt about the sex it was about her mum. 😂 Choosing Marc Antony in the finale of ACOR. It just felt wrong because I've romanced Cassius too much and it didn't really make any sense in general since he's technically been our villain as well. MC storming the stage during the Vinyls. (PT) I felt so bad for Jaylyn and was quite angry that I didn't have a choice in the matter. My attempts to be kind to her throughout the book all seemed for naught. I almost quit the book right then. Having to say no to Maria's invitation in HSS book 1 after I accidentally flirted too hard with her when I was going for Emma on my first playthrough I hereby apologise for hoarding my diamonds and thereby murdering people in IT LIVES. Having sexy time with Dames, not realizing it was a robot. Not occasionally, but I would sometimes get my character involved in polygamy just to get to know them better and see who is a better match. I felt guilty when I chose to lie to Simon in The Haunting of Braidwood Manor to get his key. I felt so guilty after choosing that that I immediately restarted the chapter and told him the truth. None guilt is a weakness Unpopular Opinions The question was "Do you have an opinion about Choices or its books/endings that others might consider unpopular. A common topic of discussion was the issue of MC gender choice, or Love Hacks is underrated. TRR book 3 is the worst of the TRR series. ES is too paywalled. Across the Void should have been a diplomatic mission transport vessel no a cruise ship with annoying passengers. This should have been a covert mission that went sideways and full of lies, betrayal, and an antihero main character. Braidwood Manor is insanely unpopular and ending made me cry, when we learnt MC's brother committed suicide Choices doesn't do trans people well. "I grew to hate the " friends" of the MC in In Lives in the Woods after I saw that they didn't care about the MC if he/she died at the end of ILITW or in It Lives Beneath. I ended up replaying ILITW, killing off those ungrateful brats, making Noah take Jane's place (again) and had my MC ride off into the sunset with Connor, her love interest. Absolutely NO REGRETS going into ILB with all the ILITW gang dead. Also, I know a lot of people have a soft spot for Lily in ILITW, but she bugs the snot out of me and rubs me the wrong way with how she's willing to defend legitimate bullies. She lets her feelings for someone get in the way of her common sense and the fact that there's so much at stake. Again, no regrets with killing her off (or any of the other " friends. in my version of ILITW. I hated that Landry turned on us in Open Heart, but I also love the guy. I forgave him as soon as I could and I really wanted him to stay. I understand that some books may abruptly end for many factors, but going off community reactions, people can be way too hard over a few books that may have had an (interesting/better written) sequel. "I dont like the suggestions of a male-only book as a spiteful response to female-led ones. A, like, NFL story, fine. Some books are stand-alone and thats okay. Theres books like that in real life. Its not PB being stupid or spiting players, its a choice. Maybe that I get frustrated with people getting upset over not being able to pick our gender. I play so many games as a male because I have to, and I loose interest because I can't play myself, as a woman. I fully understand wanting the choice, but the way some people respond and/or mock PB for it upsets me. I finally have a genre where literally every book either only has a female MC or offers one, and people get angry over that. Yeah Justin is a jerk and Im all about women getting respect. obviously, since Im a woman, but come on, this is just how the character is written, he will obviously have some type of personality change, and I would bet half the fandom will love him. Also, Im sick of hearing about Ethan forcing himself on us. PB isnt trying to force sex on us and people who take it that way are being a little extra. Ethan is obviously one of the main LIs and thats just how it is. And with the forced LIs. again yeah it sucks, but this is just a game, Im sorry that its like that, but to sit there and bitch like Ive seen some players do on this page is crazy. Like I get it, I wish Jax had more screen time than Adrian, but Im not gonna throw a fit bc thats just how it is! Sorry if I seem insensitive, I promise Im not. I completely agree with the players that wish there were werent so many gender locked books s is a complaint Ill get behind and support them on! The LIs most of the time have one personality trait: loving the MC. I mean come on, give me some personality please. 80% of them are the same person. I don't mind single books if they end fully fleshed out, don't really want 3 books tbh if there's not enough story to go with it TC&TF is paint-by-numbers epic fantasy. It has some fun moments and characters, but is hugely overrated by the fandom. I 100% wanted to forgive Ivy and be her friend — I got her to ally status even before the diamond choice before the final of AME. PTR wasnt that bad 😬 There needs to be more tragic/bittersweet endings to the stories (e. self sacrifice in Endless Summer, Across the Void, etc. The quality is declining and there's nothing wrong with criticizing Pixelberry for it. Also I hate the re-use of sprites (especially those who were important characters. Even worse LIs like Khaan. let users submit stories or ideas for new books or the continuing of the books that are already ended I am a big fan of wedding books. Why does the MC always have to be the underdog/inexperienced/weak? Give us a sword wielding, pants wearing, steal your girl MC. I would've romanced Duke Richards. Sure he's a vile abuser but given that he is a Duke and has immense power, getting a marriage with him would've solidified Edgewater's status in the UK. Given that he himself is easy to manipulate, MC could theoretically have further influence in British society. I enjoy HSSCA more than HSS. I identify more with my dorky theatre kid MC. Method Number App Store/Google Play 643 Mobile Ad 494 Older Pixelberry Game 373 Social Media 197 Word-of-mouth 107 Here are some other reasons people listed: I was just searching for games that have "choices" and this naturally came out in my search for "choices game" My friend had Pinterest boards for Choices books and I was intrigued lol Searched for lesbian romance games on reddit Used to play episode, jumped ship when I found bettee Downloading Choices got me a coin reward in another game I played. Then I got hooked to Choices and haven't played the other game in months lmfao Was playing episode initially and got bored when I ran out of keys so I downloaded another story app From choice of games tex based CYOA game books, i wanted a game that had more visual and found choices in the play store I got told of it by friends and played Choices to mock it. Didn't expect it to actually be good My mom installed it so I was curious what it was. Turned out, it was fate! How do you like Choices the game overall? Overall across 1550 ratings people's average for the game came out to be 4. 40 out of 5. Any suggestions for improvements or changes to Choices the game? Multiple savegames per book like episode that you can switch at any time. 2) A subscription model where you can buy a book for a reasonable price and have ALL diamond options in that book unlocked. A better/neutral/bad content system for people who purchased premium scenes or not. From what I played most of the books are either you pay and get content or dont pay and the book feels like a minute long. Also make choices that have more rewarding/punishing consequences. Not many books have those. As much as Im a sucker for romance, I would really love more of a variety of book genres. The weddings, babies, and country yeehaw is getting excessive. I would also love more diverse sex scenes (i. e. MC being a top) and more consistent with the characters genders. Lastly, can we switch up the flirting dialogue? Not so direct and straightforward all the time? It can sound so cringeworthy and unnatural. Diamond/Keys arent as plentiful as they should be. buying them shouldnt be a requirement for a solid ending Do better for the LGBTQ+ community. More diverse characters, including more explicitly trans characters. Less genderlocking. Prioritize quality of content over quantity. Make diamond choices count. Either include more options for lesbians and male players or stop teasing those options in advertisements Every series should have more than one book and also many side-stories like The Freshman. When you tap on Browse by series and only find one book in one series. It looks very strange and empty. No serie should be left alone even if it is unpopular. I hope Perfect Match comes back and The Royal series should never end, maybe after The Royal Heir it comes The Royal Academy. And I am waiting for Hero Volume 2. Grittier stories. Add swear words. We can kill people and fuck people but we can't say "fuck" Stupid. I feel like the diamond choices are getting out of control. Instead of adding flavour to the story, like outfits, pets, steamy scenes with LIs, etc. theyre now hiding bits of the story that could be important like information your character should already know, spending any sort of time with your LI, etc. behind a paywall. It feels like by the time a book is finished, you have to pay 50 to read the whole thing, which is ridiculous. I know this isnt really in their control, but I just wish they would stop ending popular books that people like, such as Nightbound, The Elementalists, and Platinum. I know budget can be an issue, but they need to be more transparent with us instead of waiting until the very last chapter to reveal that there wont be a sequel. I wish they could be more comfortable writing what they love without much financial concerns. I'd like to see their real vision of ATV before it got scrapped for example. Also, the fluffy books might be released in balance with other genres that I consider great but generally not generating enough money, like Nightbound. Lastly, diamond routes could be better like they did with TC&TF where our Choices are still matter without them diamonds. Id say ungenderlock some books, but thats asking too much. Id say add a bookmark feature where you can replay your favourite chapter anytime (cost 2 keys though. I'd like more asexual options, like in TE. I'm not asexual myself, but sometimes I just don't like any of the LIs or want to play a book without romance. Less genderlocked romance books, and better treatment for the female LIs. LIs/Characters with more personality. Lately a lot of the books have really dull side characters without any defining traits, which means I'm not invested in the story. PtR is the worst for this, along with AME and SK. On the flip side, I thought the characters from ES and tCatF were really well fleshed out for the most part. Maybe let us store more keys than 2 maybe 5? More female LIs. I don't want to sound greedy but it would be nice to have a choice of female LIs a little more often. The ability to see where you have made purchases without playing through the story again would be useful, even if it just said 'In this book you have purchased 1 Casual Outfit and 2 additional scenes' or something like that. Multiple partners in the ending and gender option for all the books. No more forced LIs, no more LIs getting all the screen time and pushing the others out of the story, and let us choose our sexuality at the beginning to prevent unwanted advances Stop favoring one love interest over the others. Focus more on character development and the plot instead of more romance. Wrap up underperforming stories better, rather than ending them abruptly with dozens of loose ends and unfulfilling conclusions. Yes, tell whoever keeps doing it to stop writing that a character's lips "quirk" into a smile. It has become so overused, especially in recent books, and every time I see it I go into a rage because I hate that phrase. I hate it. I absolutely detest it because it is horrible. I get so angry when it appears. It's not something anybody says. It's something that you read in Twilight and then again in 50 Shades of Grey. If I wanted to read Twilight or 50 Shades of Grey I'd stick my head into a vat of boiling acid. I should not have to read about mouths acting like eyeballs at any moment. Nobody should. If you are going to borrow a writerly quirk from another author, please choose an author who isn't objectively terrible. It does not make your writing better. It does not make your stories more interesting. I'm sure you're proud of yourself, but it's lazy writing and more importantly it's terrible writing. Remember, not everybody is a freak about this stuff, and they probably don't remember that it's there. So what are you including it for? The people who don't mind it don't remember, and the people who mind do remember. You'll make me so happy if you stop that. Also, please, it's terrible writing and will improve how people feel about the stories. Community Questions Did you create a Reddit account just to participate in r/Choices? About a third of all Reddit users created an account just for the community! Answer Number No 906 Yes 370 No Reddit Account 226 How long have you been subscribed to r/Choices or been part of the community? The majority of users just joined our community within the last year. The vast majority of members visit our subreddit weekly, and almost half, daily. Answer Number A few times a week 424 Daily 379 Multiple times a day 289 When I see a post while browsing Reddit 131 Weekly 122 Monthly 58 When I get a notification 22 The number one reason people put was discussion threads, followed by memes and news and the friendly community. Here are some other answers: Thirsty b*tches i can relate to i find it cringey at times but im impressed at how devoted n positive people are in this subreddit The fact I can ask something I don't understand and someone else could answer it. The memes hit - like they brighten up my day literally everything, its so creative lol i love yall Everything lul, as long as it has to do with a book series I have read. Its nice seeing people having the same opinions as me about the chapters/ characters Debriefing after chapters Seeing pictures of peoples customisable MCs/LIs etc to help me decide which one to pick the memes are HILARIOUS How often do you change your userflair on r/Choices? A majority of respondents have userflair on the subreddit, but most change it infrequently. Answer Number I don't have any userflair 628 Rarely 316 Never, I've picked one and am sticking with it 219 Occasionally 157 Very often 26 How do you like r/Choices the community overall? The average rating people had for the subreddit was 4. 11, out of 1 to 5. What other online platforms do you talk with others about Choices? No surprise, Tumblr was the most popular one here with almost half of respondents here being active on there. Followed by the Wikia/Fandom, Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube. The overlap between Facebook, Discord, and Amino is rather low since all were fewer than 15. Any suggestions for improvements or changes to r/Choices? Most of these changes are regarding the community and other members rather than things mods can do, but here they are! A reminder that for threads where there are personal attacks, etc. please report the comments in question. We get something like a thousand comments a day and there's no way we can read through all of them, so reporting helps bring things to our attention. Same thing goes for reposts. A masterthread for "They shouldn't let me name things" posts Actually read threads that are already in existence, and dont just make a new one. Less low effort/meme posts As impossible as it is, more open mindedness about others' opinions. Guys who are upset with some books being Genderlocked get shut down and even harassed for such a simple opinion. bring back disco jax! People need to stop being so reluctant to criticism and getting upset any time someone says PB is problematic. Bring Tantrum Thursdays back. Let us rant if we want to, stop trying to shut down criticism of the app. Nope, this is one of my favorite communities and Subreddits. For every book that someone doesn't like, someone likes that book. Whenever a subreddit starts to gang up on a book, someone probably loses the will to talk about said book. I'm not saying that bad things shouldn't be discussed. I'm just saying theres got to be sort of compromise to make someone want to talk about a book they're reading rather than being scared they'll be bullied for not following the crowd or something. If that makes sense? Higher mod activity, so we can avoid multiple people uploading the same thing over and over, and this is a long shot, but it would be really cool to ban the people downvoting just because. Stop shitting on books the second they are announced and stop overhyping things, downvoting for disagreeing with your LIs I like the tournament style book vs book, character vs character things you guys have. Just keep on being friendly 😂😘 Keep up the good work, guys, y'all are amazing kill the mods. replace them with bots. make r/choices great Mod Chazz Need to bring more artist into this community and spread our influences. Love the subreddit, keep up the great work! More memes. While I feel that our community is generally civil and respectful, some of yall are just. sigh. I havent been as active anymore because people get so defensive and aggressive, even though I feel that I make myself clear in explaining myself. Its usually when topics like racism - specifically anti-Blackness - come up. Its just a shame because as progressive as Choices is compared to other media, the community could improve with open mindedness and learning. Surveys, March Madness- any type of polling really. I like taking surveys, so thank you for making this one! No! Id just like to thank the mods who have been keeping this subreddit alive Surprised at the results and answers? Expecting them?
